As you may already know, we've been offering barista courses open to the public since November. We'd also like to thank you for your interest; many of you have already taken our barista training or reserved your spot, which means great success for us!
Many people are wondering: is it possible to take the espresso course, or the latte art course, without having taken the first course which is an introduction to the world of coffee?
The answer is yes. We let you choose the subject you want to focus on to enrich your knowledge and improve your techniques. Of course, taking all three barista courses in order offers a very interesting overview for new coffee enthusiasts, which can help you put everything you've learned into perspective later on.
Specifically, what happens in the 3 barista training programs ?

In course #1 : Introduction to the World of Coffee, you will learn about the different varieties and processing methods of coffee. We will discuss storage and roasting. You will take a short tour of our roasting facility in Limoilou to better understand the roasting process and will end the course with a blind cupping tasting, a ritual that will help you better detect coffee aromas and develop your palate.
Lesson #1 - Introduction to the world of coffee, discover it here !

For course #2 : Espresso at Home, the goal is to advise and guide you so that your home espresso extractions are at their best. No matter what machine you have at home, there's a way to get the most out of it! The grinder calibration technique will be explained in detail. You'll learn the basic techniques to ensure your extractions are well-balanced and flavorful.

Finally, lesson #3 : introduction to the art of latte.

Probably the most popular! The first part of this course explains the theory behind the perfect latte. You'll learn the secret to a very fine microfoam and the technique for properly pouring your milk into the espresso. There's also a small section dedicated to espresso itself, since it's essential as the base for a good latte. The second hour of this course is reserved for hands-on practice on a commercial machine. And of course, you get to taste your creations!

Please note that regardless of your level, whether you are a beginner or intermediate coffee enthusiast, you can confirm and solidify your skills with an instructor who can also advise you on the type of equipment you own. Private workshops are also available for small groups or even for individuals who would like a customized lesson and can bring their own equipment.
